AMD Video card not detected after bios mod (rx470, rx480,rx570,rx580 affected models)

Created:

Introduction

With crypto mining fever a lot of people were buying AMD cards to mine ETH and other coins. It was a common practice to modify bios to improve mining performance.

Latest AMD drivers has a verification that causes modified cards to be not detected on windows.

Basic solution: Rollback to latest working driver

Lastest known version to work with biod mod is: 16.11.5 or 16.9.2 crimson driver. Download working crypto mining drivers that allows to use biod mod. Version 16.11.5 or 16.9.2 will work for older cards, rx5XX will not be detected.

Before installing the old version, remeber to execute DDU to remove the current installed drivers.

Patching latest drivers: Bios signature bypass

There is a tool call AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher, which modifies the AMD/ATI video driver.

If you want to to use the patcher, follow this steps:

  • just download the last version
  • clean your drivers with DDU
  • install the new drivers (do not reboot)
  • run the tool (need admin permissions)

Note: If you want to patch only the signature check name the program from "atikmdag-patcher.exe" to "atikmdag-patcher-bios.exe" and it will only bypass the signature check.
